The Nigeria vocational association (NVA) was inaugurated in the 1970's at the university of Nigeria Nsukka as a student organization in collaboration with international vocational associations, especially in the united states of America. Over time, teachers/Lecturers, researchers and other stakeholders joined presently, the NVA has blossomed into a strong and formidable national organization with membership drawn from individuals and organization engaged in or interested in national vocational education and training pursuits. Our goal is to promote and encourage research and scholarship on vocational education and training, forge intellectual links and networks for scholars, policy makes and activists within and outside Nigeria and assist in the development of vocational education and training as a national enterprise.
Following the repositioning process,the Nigeria Vocational Association (NVA) changed its name to Association of Vocational and Technical Educators of Nigeria (AVTEN),sequel to its registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission on 24th August, 2016. As a result of this registration,NVA is now formally and officially known as Association of Vocational and Technical Educators of Nigeria (AVTEN).
